John Koeberer's 38-year career in the Hospitality Industry has included ownership, skilled executive management, directorships and visionary, entrepreneurial leadership in privately and publicly owned companies, public agencies and non-profit public organizations.
John is currently Co-Owner, CEO & President of The California Parks Companies. These business entities are involved in managing recreational enterprises statewide for public agencies, utility districts and non-profit organizations with emphases on inland lake marinas, corporate event and catering venues, restaurants, RV and mobile home parks, campgrounds, gift and grocery retail operations, gas stations and a guest lodge in Lassen Volcanic National Park.
John has taken an active, leadership interest in both professional and community organizations for the past 30 years. He is currently serving on the Board of Governors of the California Community College System and is a past Chairman of the California State Chamber of Commerce, Member of the California Tourism Commission, Founding Chairman of the Lassen National Park Foundation, President of the California Parks Hospitality Association, and Member of the California State Roundtable on Parks, Recreation and Tourism. He also currently serves on the Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration Advisory Council at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. John has previously served as Chairman of the Board for both Tehama and Humboldt Banks and is a past member of the Board of Fibreboard Corporation.
John has been the recipient of many statewide and local community honors and was the winner of the Norman P. Clark California Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2001 -- previous winners have included Wolfgang Puck, David Packard, Gene Autry and Robert Mondavi. He was inducted into the California Tourism Hall of Fame in 1999.
John frequently speaks on topics such as tourism, California business and personal development on a statewide basis.
John has been active in Republican politics in both federal and statewide political races. Most notably he has served as the Northern California Finance Co-Chairman for both Governor’s Pete Wilson and Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was asked to serve on Governor Schwarzenegger’s Transition Team after the Governor’s election. He continues to work closely with the Governor’s Administration.
John has two grown children and currently lives in Redding, California with his wife Nancy and her daughter.
