Degree Information
The Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Administration major is an interdisciplinary degree program with a mission to advance leadership and knowledge in recreation, parks, and tourism.
The curriculum focus is on the development of appreciation, knowledge, understanding, and skills in leadership, planning, and administration of park, recreation and tourism programs and services.
The program was initially accredited in 1986 by the National Recreation and Park Association/American Alliance of Leisure and Recreation. Since then, we have received re-accreditation every five years.
There are approximately 300 students in the major. All are required to complete a minimum of 1,000 hours of related paid and/or voluntary work experience prior to graduation. Most far exceed that number.
Students are served by eight full time and a team of part time faculty positions.
