What is the Cal Poly Inclusion and Diversity Experience?

Why do we love living here . . . and studying here . . . and working here in the Cal Poly Experience Industry Management [EIM] Department?  On campus, and especially in EIM, our own unique self-expression tools create our Learn by Doing experience. As we unite and share our perspectives we celebrate our freedom in diversity by honoring the sum of our parts: race, ethnic origin, color, religion, beliefs, sexual orientation, age, and abilities in our joined  human journey.

In September 2017 the EIM faculty completed a self-study as part of the Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration program accreditation.

The faculty highlighted imperatives in their inclusion and diversity plan focused on recruitment and enrollment of a diverse student body. In addition, the faculty are dedicated to hiring a diverse workforce. Additional imperatives in this section highlight the faculty's goal of making all of us feel like we are part of the department's "family."

Let's continue to appreciate, celebrate, and understand our common humanness as a creative life force in the Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo community.

Cal Poly Cross Cultural Center welcomes you and invites you to share in the common values of family, diversity, learning, growth, and advocacy. They initiated the #IdefineMe campaign to promote Cal Poly's vision for an inclusive campus. Cal Poly students have the option to self-identify and update their portal options in support of the university's priorities of creating an inclusive and welcoming campus environment.

We are diverse. Inclusion starts with all of us.

Cal Poly is focused on accessibility. The CSU Accessible Technology Initiative [ATI] is providing leadership and expertise for technical support staff on campus. Interested in free web accessibility training courses? Available for everyone here. The Kennedy Library website also provides access for a free campus document conversion service, teaching tools such as turning a PDF into an mp3 or an image into an accessible PDF.

Cal Poly believes in providing access to its diverse student, employee, and community audiences. Accessibility is fundamental to Cal Poly.

All of these programs are reasons why we love living, studying and working at Cal Poly and in the San Luis Obispo community!
