You will also read about RPTA students and faculty that give back to the local community with thousands of volunteer and service hours annually.  For years, local organizations have relied on our event, programming, and experience industry management expertise to serve their constituents, clients, guests, and visitors.  We are once again expanding these learning experiences to the international scene with Professor Keri Schwab’s offering of a course in the Dominican Republic.  You’ll also read about the diverse career interests and accomplishments of our students, interns, and alumni who constantly push the envelope in careers unheard of 40 years ago in the wine and brewery industry, lifestyle public relations and events, culinary experiences, and social entrepreneurship.  Don’t miss the article on RPTA alumna Heidi Burns and her passion to overcome personal obstacles to create a business that gives back through Project Happy Hearts.  Also be sure to read about the visit with our most recent executive-in-residence Jim Rogers, CEO of KOA and reality show Undercover Boss celebrity.

In closing, be sure to save the date for our 40th anniversary celebration at the Cliffs Resort in Pismo Beach, Feb. 27, 2016.  The event, planned entirely by students, will underscore Learn by Doing with alumni activities, a dinner, and our annual auction/fundraiser to benefit our students and program development.

If you would like a daily dose of RPTA to complement the biannual newsletter don’t forget to “like” CalPolyRPTA on Facebook and to follow us on Twitter @CalPolyRPTA.

Wishing you all a fall season full of life-enhancing experiences and memorable places!
