RPTA CLUB: "FALL"ing INTO ACTION!

By Laurel Thomson (RPTA '15), Staff Writer

Falling leavesFall quarter has been a busy one full of friends, food, and fun for the RPTA club! Under the leadership of President Brittany Glasnow ('13) and Vice President Kiefer Reischl ('14), the RPTA club has been hard at working recruiting new members and getting involved in the recreation, parks, and tourism field. Members volunteered at the Morro Bay Harbor Festival as they have in years past. Club members had the opportunity to meet great people and help a local community host an incredible event!

This year, the officers are getting a fresh start connecting with new and old members. Officers also revamped the meetings; there's tasty food, as always, but also door prizes. Club officers have also placed a renewed emphasis on professionals coming to speak at club meetings. This fall, Adam Stowe, the general manager of Blues Baseball, came to a meeting to discuss internships he has available for students.

Along with their newly designed meetings, the RPTA club has also been active in Intramurals - playing Dodgeball on Sunday nights this past fall. They may not have made the playoffs, but they sure did have a good time hanging with their fellow students and friends! On November 8th, club members even started out the day with a sunrise hike to Bishop Peak; donuts were eaten, Bishop Peak was hiked, and a good time was had by all.

As always, the RPTA club has endless fun and opportunities in store for the rest of this year. Right now, they are in the process of planning a Poly Escapes trip in January, during which they will either kayak or snowshoe! Stay tuned as more RPTA club adventures are sure to come!

Missing out on the fun? Don't! It's never too late to sign-up! Membership is $15 and includes an awesome T-shirt! Come on out and join the RPTA club for a fun time with friends and your RPTA family!
