Like Us on Facebook logo and linkLike most organizations around the world, we have realized the impact that social media can have in communicating with constituents. Academic departments have long struggled with how to stay connected to an ever-growing list of students, alumni, friends, and supporters. This past academic year, Dr. Hendricks enlisted Central Coast PRspectives, an on-campus student-managed public relations firm founded in 2005 by students in Cal Poly's Journalism Department, to help further our efforts in public relations and with social media. The main focus this spring was the development of a community page for RPTA.

That page has "taken off" since we launched it almost two months ago. We now have approximately 300 "Likes" and counting, and we anticipate phasing out the old Facebook site and focusing exclusively on the community page. We'll use the community page to keep people informed about department events, share photos of our RPTA "family" as they travel the world with our iconic yellow water bottle, post job announcements that we receive from our countless alumni and friends around the world, and keep us all connected in a more meaningful way. Please take time to "Like RPTA" and make our community page a key part of your social media experience.
