Summer 2016 Newsletter Extended: Meet The Staff
Meet the Staff for "The Report" Summer 2016 Newsletter
Staff for "The Report" are nominated by RPTA faculty for demonstrating excellent writing skills in RPTA classes. Student writers then coordinate with the editor and faculty advisor Dr. Keri Schwab to develop and write articles.
Here's more about the staff:
Anna Bach (RPTA '16), Co-editor and Staff Writer
Anna Bach is a third year student with a concentration in Event Planning and Management. This is her third year as a staff writer and second year as co-editor. She has been involved in Rho Phi Lambda, RPTA Open House Planning Committee, the Jim Rogers Executive in Residence Planning Committee, and was captain of the RPTA Academic Quiz Bowl Team in 2015. Bach also works for ASI Events, planning and executive events for students on campus. She plans to graduate a year early in order to jump into her dream career as a wedding planner. She loves Disney movies, relaxing on the beach, and spontaneous dance parties.
Kristen Byron (RPTA '17), Co-editor and Staff Writer
Kristen Byron, a junior at Cal Poly, was honored to be a co-editor for The Report this quarter. After three years at Cal Poly she has adapted quite nicely to the San Luis Obispo lifestyle, but she will always call Danville, a northern Calif. suburb, home. In the future, she hopes to fuse her love of science with event planning by earning a minor in biology. Ideally, she wants to work as a corporate event coordinator for an environmentally focused company. She is secretary of Rho Phi Lambda RPTA’s academic honors society, and serves on the RPTA 2017 Dinner and Auction Committee. Byron also works as a student assistant for the Cal Poly Commencement Office. In her free time, she enjoys vacationing at the beach with her family, playing pick-up volleyball games with friends at Cal Poly, and rock-climbing with her older brother.
Tori Perrella (RPTA '17), Staff Writer
Tori Perrella, a third-year student, was raised in Moraga, Calif., a small town in the East Bay Area where she developed a love for hiking, eating delicious foods, and adventuring into nearby San Francisco. While at Cal Poly, she has been involved with the RPTA Auction and Dinner Committee and as well as Greek life where she served as the in-house social chair for her sorority. Perrella has a concentration in Event Planning and Management, and hopes to one day work for an experiential marketing company. This summer, she is working as an intern at an online event platform company called Honeybook. When not working hard in school, Perrella enjoys spending her free time at Lake Tahoe.
Maxime De Jonge (RPTA '17), Staff Writer
Maxime De Jonge is a third-year RPTA student, with a concentration in Hospitality and Tourism Management. She was raised in a small town in the Dutch countryside in Bruchem, The Netherlands. In 2012, she decided to leave the small, 300-population town and cold weather, and moved to Santa Barbara. She is a community service officer for the University Police Department, volunteers with the International Poly Pal Program, and is part of the 2016-17 RPTA Club officer leadership team. In her free time, De Jonge enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, and road trips. During summer breaks she drives thousands of miles to seek outdoor adventure. In the future, De Jonge hopes to follow in her family’s footsteps and become an entrepreneur for the adventure tourism industry.
