Values, Mission & Accreditation

All of the Experience Industry Management's interactions involve a set of core values. These values help Cal Poly Experience Industry Mangement Department's Recreation, Parks & Tourism Administration [RPTA] program achieve our mission: To advance leadership and knowledge in recreation, parks, and tourism.

Accreditation

According to CHEA [Council for Higher Education Accreditation], "degree mills and accreditation mills mislead and harm.  In the United States, degrees and certificates from mills may not be acknowledged by other institutions when students seek to transfer or go to graduate school.

Employers may not acknowledge degrees and certificates from degree mills when providing tuition assistance for continuing education. "Accreditation" form an accreditation mill can mislead students and the public about the quality of an institution. In the presence of degree mills and accreditation mills, students may spend a good deal of money and receive neither an education nor a usable credential." Read more on CHEA's website.

The Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Administration undergraduate program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT).

The Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT) accredits baccalaureate programs in parks, recreation, tourism, sport management, event management, therapeutic recreation, and leisure studies offered at regionally accredited institutions within the United States and its territories, and at nationally accredited institutions in Canada, and Mexico.

Why EIM?

We are the 1st program of its kind in the nation and at the forefront of what's next in Experience Industry Management.

Working with top industry companies like George P. Johnson, Google, Salesforce.

Watch this video to learn and feel the excitement of EIM.

Experience Industry Management department's name change makes it the first of its kind in California, blending tourism, travel, experiences, social media, culture, sports, outdoor recreation, and events!

The name change was made to better reflect the national shift in the industry and to more accurately represent what students learn. The word 'experience' represents a better idea of how students can use their experiences to influence and change people's lives for the better.

Johnson, as well as Cisco. It blows my mind that EIM puts on events like that for students......thank you for fostering such a unique culture that I am proud to be a part of on campus."
